Questions
Can I get out of a yearly software contract early?
Read your order form and terms. Many yearly contracts say you owe the full term even if you stop using it. Some charge a set fee. A few let you go. Ask the vendor in writing and keep the reply.
When do I have to send notice?
Most auto-renewing contracts want written notice 30 to 90 days before the term ends. Put that date on your calendar the day you sign, minus a week.
Is it cheaper to stay until the end?
Sometimes. If you owe the rest of the term either way, moving now costs the same on the old contract and gets you on the new system sooner. Run your numbers above.
