Housecall Pro Alternatives: Cost, Worth It, 6 Options

By the DispatchMind team · Updated 10/01/2026 · 7 min read

Housecall Pro costs $79, $189 or $329 a month on monthly billing as of October 2026, for 1, 5 or 8 users. It's worth it if you want online booking, review requests and a menu of marketing extras in one app. It's less worth it if you mostly need to dispatch a crew and pay your techs right. The main Housecall Pro alternatives are Jobber, Workiz, Service Fusion, FieldEdge, Kickserv and DispatchMind. Below: the full cost, who should stay, who should look around, and how each option compares.

How much does Housecall Pro cost?

Housecall Pro publishes its prices. As of October 2026:

Plan Billed monthly Billed yearly Users included
Basic $79 a month $59 a month 1
Essentials $189 a month $149 a month 5
Max $329 a month $299 a month 8, then $35 per extra user

Every plan comes with a 14-day free trial with no credit card and no contract. Check Housecall Pro's site for current pricing.

What each plan gets you

Basic covers online booking, invoices and payments, scheduling and dispatching, quotes and review management. It's one user, so it's really an owner-operator plan.

Essentials adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo markup, employee GPS tracking, commissions and accounting sync. This is where most shops with a crew land.

Max adds a sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, a dedicated onboarding specialist and escalated phone support.

The extras

Housecall Pro's pricing page says add-ons and extra users are optional. Next to the plans it shows more products, including Voice, CSR AI for call answering and booking, Payroll, Pipeline, Campaigns, Websites and vehicle GPS, without prices. 2026 pricing guides report that several of these, like Voice and Pipeline, are priced separately, and that card processing runs roughly 2.59% to 3.49% per payment. Ask for those numbers before you compare.

Is Housecall Pro worth it?

For the right shop, yes. Here's the honest split.

It's worth it if:

Look around if:

None of that makes it a bad product. Reviewers also say it's priced fairly for small businesses and that scheduling and invoicing run smoothly. It just means the fit changes as you grow.

6 Housecall Pro alternatives

1. Jobber

Jobber's pricing scales by user count. As of October 2026, billed monthly, Connect is $199 a month and Grow is $299 for 2 to 5 people, rising to $299 and $399 for 6 to 10 people. AI Receptionist is a $29 add-on and Marketing Suite is $99.

Pick it over Housecall Pro if: you want a clean client hub and polished quotes, and you're a small crew with a simple schedule. Our Jobber alternatives post has the full cost math.

2. Workiz

Workiz lists Standard, Pro and Ultimate plans but shows "Request pricing" instead of numbers as of October 2026. Its phone system and AI answering are sold separately.

Pick it over Housecall Pro if: your business runs on inbound calls and you want the phone tools at the center. We compare all three in Workiz vs Jobber vs Housecall Pro.

3. Service Fusion

All Service Fusion plans include unlimited users. Starter is $245 a month billed monthly, Plus is $382 and Pro is $627, with no contract required.

Pick it over Housecall Pro if: you have a big team and want one flat bill no matter how many people you add.

4. FieldEdge

FieldEdge doesn't publish prices. Its plans include a flat-rate price book, service agreements and commission tracking, and it's aimed at HVAC, plumbing and electrical shops.

Pick it over Housecall Pro if: service agreements are the backbone of your business and you're fine getting a quote.

5. Kickserv

Start is $60 a month for 5 users, Run is $119 for 10 and Scale is $199 for 20, billed monthly.

Pick it over Housecall Pro if: you need the basics at the lowest possible price and can live without the extras.

6. DispatchMind

DispatchMind plans are priced by office logins, and techs are $15 a month each. Starter is $79 (2 office logins), Team is $179 (5), Pro is $299 (10) and Business is $499 (20). Extra office logins are $29. Month to month, 14-day free trial, no card.

Pick it over Housecall Pro if: you run a crew and the hard part of your day is dispatch and getting techs paid right. You get a dispatch board with techs side by side, a jobs board with color tags, and a tech app where each tech sees only their own jobs and closes out from the driveway. Pro adds commissions and tech settlement, which works out what each tech is owed from their jobs, parts and payments. It also adds tech access levels, so you choose what each tech can see and do, and a collections list of every open balance, oldest first.

Stay on Housecall Pro if: you need customer online booking, review requests or a marketing suite. DispatchMind is built for running the work, not marketing it.

How to decide in one afternoon

  1. Write your team down. Office people and techs, separately. Per-user and per-tech pricing land very differently.
  2. List the three things you can't live without. For most crews it's dispatch, tech close-out from the field and getting paid. For others it's booking and reviews.
  3. Run a real day in the trial. Book five real jobs, send them to techs, close them out and invoice them.
  4. Check the pay side. If you pay techs a percentage, run one week of commissions in the trial. Our guide on how to pay subcontractor technicians walks through the math.
